When I came to Toronto I was a little afraid of learning a new language. I didn’t know almost nothing about English and it was difficult to have an English conversation. I remembered while I was flying from Mexico to Toronto in the plane the flight attendant came to me and asked about eating something, it was difficult to understand him and only ate chicken. It was only the beginning in my new challenge when the plane landed I needed to talk with a person who was an immigration officer into the airport. She asked me many questions and I didn’t understand nothing because of my English. So at that time, I needed a translator from English to Spanish, my language. At that moment, I understood that English will be a big challenge, because in this new country, Canada will be the way to have communication. Now I’m happy even though I need a lot of vocabulary, I can have communication with people at the school, street, at home, with teachers, etc… and believe it or not, I can answer some questions which some people ask me in some places. I have been in ACCESS for a long time and I am very happy in this international school. I have learned many things because I have classmates from different parts of the world, and I can share with them a lot of marvelous things from our countries and cultures too. In other words, I’m learning about some parts of the world through my classmates. In conclusion, in the beginning my English challenge was a big preoccupation, now I am enjoying a lot learning English, and I can say “ if you have a dream in your life, go ahead, don’t be shy, it’s true that the beginning will be difficult, but after that you will obtain good satisfactions and your challenge will be a reality.
