If I had known then that I had to take the TOEFL exam, I would have begun to prepare for this test earlier. Actually, I started to study for this exam two months ago. At first, I had to become acquainted with the new structure of the exam that differs profoundly from the previous tests. The new test includes the speaking section and a prolonged reading and listening section. Being sure that I could study at home, I purchased a book including software that would guide me through. However, this program, although being the latest edition on the market wasn’t made for teaching next generation TOEFL. Of course, I could make use of this book, but as a whole the information in this book was outdated and insufficient. In addition, I was apprehensive about my speaking section because of the absence of the opportunity to speak English in Germany. Then I decided to take classes in an English speaking country. I wish I had decided to do it earlier. Then I would have time to prepare for this exam. Learning a language in a foreign country offers plenty of advantages. You can benefit from an English speaking surrounding and acquire nuances of speech that are elusive at home. You have to practice your English in daily life. This leads to the improvement in a foreign language. In conclusion, I think the idea to set in motion my preparation for the test in Canada was very beneficial for me and I regret not doing it earlier.
